BICS partners with French telco SFR to expand NB-IoT network

Telecoms solutions provider BICS has expanded its NB-IoT network to France in partnership with local carrier SFR.

BICS operates one of the largest NB-IoT/LTE-M networks in the world, with coverage in 30 countries.

IoT devices embedded with an eSIM can also access 2G, 3G, and 4G connectivity through partnerships with over 700 mobile operators around the world.

Mikaël Schachne, VP of Mobility & IoT at BICS, said:

“We are leveraging our leading position in the market to provide greater choice and flexibility to the global IoT industry.

By capitalising on our relationships with mobile operators around the world, BICS is uniquely placed to provide companies global 2G, 3G, 4G, NB-IoT, and LTE-M connectivity to make IoT deployment simple, reliable, flexible and cost-effective.”

IoT devices connected to an LPWAN network are more power-efficient, reducing maintenance costs and the need for bigger devices to house larger batteries.

Where LPWAN connectivity isn’t available or temporarily drops, manufacturers can switch networks dependent on coverage and independent needs.

Steffen Sorrell, Kaleido Intelligence’s Chief of Research, recently predicted during BICS’ Future of Connectivity event that there will be a substantial market for NB-IoT in the coming years driven by an estimated 2.5 billion LPWAN connections by 2025.
